In 1975, I met my first Giant Schnauzer and breeder at Westwind Kennels
in Winfield, Illinois. I immediately fell in love with the breed and knew it
would only be a matter of time when I bought my first Giant. It was 1982
when I went to the National Specialty in Woodstock, Illinois and was put in
touch with breeders, only to make a hard decision who to buy from. I was
only planning on buying a pet, I really had no interest in breeding or
showing.

My first giant was a male, Max, I showed him in obedience, in which I had
many people encouraging me to show him confirmation because they
said he was so handsome(I thought so too) so I thought, what the heck, I
finished him myself, and had many handlers encouraging me to continue
specialing him. It was in the fall of 1984 I decided to send Max out with a
professional handler only to be shown through the summer of 1985, he
became the #1 male in the country, winning seven group placements and
being undefeated for Best of Breed 24 straight shows(results Canine
Chronicle, June 1985 Gazette). Max was then retired and earned another
title to become, American, Canadian Ch. Black Max 11 Am.C.D.
Meanwhile, we bought a bitch Jenelle, and decided to breed her with Max
in which she had two litters. Max and Jenelle produed top show dog,
American, Canadian Ch. Jobon's Black Reiner who was awarded a
certificate from Canada in1988 for number five giant there (Dogs in
Canada Point System) Reiner won group placements in Canada and
here in the states and was very successful in such a short period of time.

We then bought a bitch, Ch. Blackbeard's Amanda, from top breeder
Joan Schoenberger (Blackbeard Kennels) in which she produced three
litters, from her first litter, she has four champions (all OFA cleared)
some are going on for their obedience titles also. Her other two litters
have been very successful as she was bred to a top stud dog, Am. Can.
Ch. Momentumm's Knight Show V Magic T.D. One puppy, Logan,
finished undefeated in three weekends, another brother finished quickly,
taking Best in Sweeps at the 1995 Midwest Specialty along the way.
There are more to follow, and hopfully to brag about.
